What services do you provide?
I offer individual therapy for adult women navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, bipolar disorder, and relationship difficulties. My practice is designed for women who want to deepen their self-awareness and heal from painful life experiences.
Do you offer in-person sessions?
No. All sessions are held virtually to offer flexibility, accessibility, and comfort for women across New Jersey and Florida.
Why do you specialize in treating BIPOC women?
Black women have unique experiences and face challenges related to racial and gender identity, including, experiences of discrimination, racial trauma, and the intersectionality of these identities I recognize the importance of addressing these unique experiences within the therapeutic context.
What can I expect in my first session?
The first session is a space to explore what’s bringing you to therapy. We’ll discuss your history, your goals, and what you’d like to gain from our work together. It’s also a time to see if we’re a good fit.
What type of clients do you work with?
I pride myself on serving diverse communities, including BIPOC women. But my passion for empowering women extends far beyond just one population. I have had the privilege of working with women from all walks of life, celebrating their unique backgrounds and experiences. No matter your ethnicity or race, I am here to support and uplift you.
Do you work with women of different cultures?
We are dedicated to creating a safe and non-judgmental space where clients can openly explore culturally sensitive issues related to emotional, mental, and physical well-being. Our therapists have a deep understanding of the cultural factors that shape the lives of BIPOC women, allowing for more effective and empathetic therapy.
What is your approach to therapy?
I use a client-centered, culturally affirming, trauma-informed approach. I integrate EMDR, cognitive-behavioral techniques, mindfulness, and solution-focused strategies to support meaningful change.
Do you specialize in working with certain populations?
Yes. I primarily serve BIPOC women who are high-functioning but feeling emotionally overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected. Many of my clients are navigating life transitions, healing from childhood trauma, or working through relationship challenges.
What is EMDR, and is it right for me?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy used to help process and resolve trauma. If you feel stuck in past experiences or intense emotional patterns, EMDR may be a helpful path forward.
How long is each session, and how often do we meet?
Sessions are 50 minutes. Most clients begin with weekly sessions and may shift to biweekly as progress is made.
Do you take insurance?
I currently accept insurance with Aetna, Cigna, Horizon BCBS NJ, and other common carriers in Florida and New Jersey. For clients that are out-of-network. I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Payment is due at the time of service.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. Your privacy is protected by law. I will review confidentiality and its legal limits during our first session so you understand your rights and protections.
Why does having a BIPOC therapist matter?
Having a therapist who understands the specific cultural, social, and historical context of BIPOC women can make a significant difference in the therapeutic relationship. Clients often find it easier to open up and connect with therapists who share or understand their backgrounds and experiences.
